Westport Heights Represents well a the 8th annual Race for Success!

I want to thank the Westport Heights teachers, staff and parents for coming out, volunteering and participating in the 8th Annual Race for Success at Loyola Marymount University this weekend.

Now our school has the opportunity to be recipients of the funding provided by the The Race for Success Educational Foundation which is a nonprofit entity set up to help the public, private, and charter schools come together and raise funds for education.  The proceeds from the Race for Success 5k benefit the local elementary, middle, and high schools in Westchester, Playa Vista, and Playa del Rey. This event has raised funds each year to save programs that would otherwise have been cut due to declining budgets. Each year our schools face financial hardships and must find ways to raise more funds just to maintain existing programs and staffing levels. Specific allocation of funds is at the discretion of each school’s Parent Teachers Organization.

It was great fun so be sure to join us next year!

Partner reading around the tree garden!  Oh all the fun we had!

For this activity the 4th Graders in Mr. Fortier's class read to the 1st and 2nd graders in Ms. Mangos and Mr. Penate's classes.  We had such a great time, the boys and girls really enjoyed partner-reading with a 4th grader.
